That’s an incredibly sad truth about youth culture today, and as much as we all can point fingers at other races that may discriminate against us as Black people. We hate ourselves more than any other race could - in today’s society.
We might reblog, post, etc cliched photos and kind words such as “Black Is Beautiful”, but in reality if some of us could all just be honest with ourselves - and not smile for the cameras, most of us sing a very different tune compared to the things we say, post etc in the public eye. Hypocrisy. I understand where this really stems from because this mindset of “Light Is Right” has been around longer than any rapper that’s coined the term “Red bone” and so on, though that’s hardly an excuse for us to then go on with this mindset that in turn is taking us back much further than an whip, chain or ship could ever do so.
If we could learn to love ourselves more, and do so wholeheartedly there could be growth amongst our own communities - instead of only banding together when another race has done wrong by us.
Food for thought.
Thanks
(P.S. I already know that this post will not be well received by many because to some I’ve spat directly at the faces of your ignorant mindset and instead of taking it in, you’ll merely label me as a “preacher”. That’s okay. I understand. I was blind once too.)
